William Wilson

Another diversion from relatives.  William Wilson was elected the first Sheriff of the newly formed Union County, NC.  Union was formed from Mecklenburg and Anson Counties in 1842.  An article can be found here regarding an organizational meeting in April 1843, and the election of officers.

Sheriff Wilson died during his first term in office.  He is buried at Tirzah Presbyterian Church in Waxhaw, Union County, NC.

William S. Baucom is the son of J. R. and Mary Godwin Baucom.  Hetty J. Thomas Baucom is the daughter of W. H. and Lousia Baucom Thomas.  They are buried in the Baucom Family Cemetery with William's parents.  William and Hetty are my wife's great grandparents.

James R. and Mary Godwin Baucom are buried in the Baucom Family Cemetery on Highway 218 in Union County, NC.  They are my wife's second great grandparents.  James R. is the son of Sanders and Ester Baucom.  Mary is the daughter of Simon and Patience Godwin.
