These are the headstones for a husband, wife, and daughter in the New Nance Family Cemetery.
James Silas and Martha Diana are also the parents of Davidson Nance. Around 1930 Davidson authored the research book of The History and Genealogy of the Nances. On page 42 Davidson writes, "Clementine Nance, died at the age of six with diphtheria and is buried at the new Nance grave-yard..."
Davidson also wrote briefly about my second great grandparents, Culpepper and Sarah Jane Nance Stewart. Davidson is their nephew. He mentions a "Stewart grave-yard," where the second son of Culpepper and Sarah is buried, but does not reveal its location.
With this acknowledgment of a "Stewart grave-yard" the search for Joseph will continue.
